Open the Business Loan Calculator →
What you need to enter
- Loan amount ($)
- Interest rate (%)
- Term (years)
- Origination fee (%)
The formula
Payment uses the standard loan formula. The effective APR is the rate at which the payments discount to the loan amount minus fees.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- Loan amount ($): 100000
- Interest rate (%): 9
- Term (years): 5
- Origination fee (%): 2
| Monthly payment | $2,075.84 |
| Origination fee | $2,000.00 |
| Total interest | $24,550.13 |
| Effective APR | 9.868% |
Tips for better results
- Compare APR, not just the interest rate.
- Ask about prepayment penalties.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Ignoring fees.
- Borrowing more than the business can repay.
