How to use the Distance Calculator
This tool finds the straight-line distance between two points in 2D or 3D.

What you need to enter
- x₁
- y₁
- z₁
- x₂
- y₂
- z₂
The formula
Distance = √((x₂ − x₁)² + (y₂ − y₁)² + (z₂ − z₁)²). Manhattan distance adds the absolute differences.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- x₁: 0
- y₁: 0
- z₁: 0
- x₂: 3
- y₂: 4
- z₂: 0
| Euclidean distance | 5 |
| Manhattan distance | 7 |
| Midpoint | (1.5, 2, 0) |
Tips for better results
- Leave z at 0 for 2D.
- Midpoint = average of coordinates.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mixing up coordinates.
- Using it for GPS distances on Earth.
