How to use the Hours Calculator
The hours calculator finds hours worked between a start and end time minus a break, plus pay.
What you need to enter
- Start time
- End time
- Unpaid break (minutes)
- Hourly rate ($, optional)
The formula
Hours = end − start − break. Pay = decimal hours × hourly rate.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- Start time: 09:00
- End time: 17:30
- Unpaid break (minutes): 30
- Hourly rate ($, optional): 20
| Hours worked | 8 h 0 min |
| Decimal hours | 8 |
| Pay for the shift | $160.00 |
