How to use the RMD Calculator
The RMD calculator estimates the minimum you must withdraw from a retirement account each year using the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table.
What you need to enter
- Age at year end
- Account balance on Dec 31 of last year ($)
The formula
RMD = account balance on Dec 31 of last year ÷ the distribution period for your age.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- Age at year end: 75
- Account balance on Dec 31 of last year ($): 400000
| Required distribution | $16,260.16 |
