How to use the Slope Calculator
The slope calculator finds the slope, angle, distance and line equation through two points.
What you need to enter
- x₁
- y₁
- x₂
- y₂
The formula
Slope m = (y₂ − y₁) ÷ (x₂ − x₁). Line: y = mx + b with b = y₁ − m × x₁.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- x₁: 1
- y₁: 2
- x₂: 4
- y₂: 8
| Slope (m) | 2 |
| Angle | 63.4349° |
| Equation | y = 2x + 0 |
| Distance | 6.708204 |
Tips for better results
- A vertical line has no defined slope.
- Keep points in the same order.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Swapping x and y.
- Dividing by zero.
