How to use the Grade Calculator
The grade calculator shows what you need on the final exam to reach a target grade.
What you need to enter
- Current grade (%)
- Grade you want (%)
- Final exam weight (%)
The formula
Needed score = (target − current × (1 − exam weight)) ÷ exam weight.
Worked example
Using the default values in the calculator:
- Current grade (%): 82
- Grade you want (%): 85
- Final exam weight (%): 30
| Needed on final | 92% |
| Verdict | Achievable |
Tips for better results
- A result above 100% means the target is out of reach.
- Check how your course weights the exam.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using the wrong weight.
- Entering percentages as decimals.
